How To Live Everyday With Christian Integrity | FITC36

Episode 36

by Dr. Jonathan G. Smith | Faith In The City

What is the real secret behind living every day with spiritual integrity? Answering this question isn’t for everybody. Because when you ask that question, you must make an active decision to walk daily with Jesus.

In this final sermon on Living the Integrated Life, we conclude this series by examining James’ final closing remarks in his letter. Unique to James, he doesn’t give us closing benedictions but a solid call to action — to watch your tongue, strengthen your prayer life, and look out for your neighbors. These verses summarize the appeal made by Jesus Christ to his disciples — take up your cross daily and follow him.

Key Notes to Remember

The Power of Our Words

Considering the power of our words, Douglas Moo writes the following:

Our truthfulness should be so consistent and dependable that we need no oath to support it: a simple “yes” or “no” should suffice. “Our mere word should be as utterly trustworthy as a signed document, legally correct and complete.” The Letter of James: PNTC,  Grand Rapids.

The Power of Our Prayers

Considering our prayer life, James calls us to pray when life is hard. He is also calling us to pray and praise when life is good.

The Power of Our Witness

Do we believe sin destroy lives? If so, we should be concerned for our neighbors, not just ourselves.
