Show Notes:
In this episode, we delve into the timeless call for Christian unity, guided by Ephesians 2:11–22. The Apostle Paul’s vision of a harmonious Christian community—where ethnic and cultural divisions dissolve in the presence of Christ—serves as our foundation. We explore why modern Christians, despite our shared faith, struggle to embody this unity, especially during contentious times like election seasons.

Through a poignant story about two dogs separated by a gate, we highlight how digital platforms like Facebook often amplify division rather than reconciliation. Yet, Paul reminds us that Christ’s work on the cross not only reconciled humanity with God but also tore down the “dividing wall of hostility,” creating one unified body. Unity, as Paul describes, is not natural but supernatural, rooted in the peace of Christ.

We unpack three key principles:

  1. Division Is Inevitable in a Fallen World: Reflecting on the biblical narrative and human history, we recognize that conflict stems from competing visions and sin’s pervasive influence.
  2. Unity Marks the Christian Community: The church is called to live as a countercultural entity, demonstrating the peace and unity achieved through Christ’s sacrifice.
  3. Unity Is Experienced in God’s House: Paul envisions the church as a holy temple where believers are “citizens of heaven,” embodying the Kingdom of God.

As Christians, our mission transcends earthly political struggles. The church must stand as a beacon of peace and a testimony to the transformative power of the Gospel. How can we better practice unity in our polarized world? Tune in to hear practical insights for living as citizens of the heavenly city.
