How to Embrace Life at Age 40 | GOF28

What does life look like at Age 40? For me, I’ve spent the better part of a year getting ready for a single event — my birthday and turning 40 years old. The reason why it was such an event was directly related to the false expectations I had with turning forty. So in this episode, I want to share with you some insights I have gained over the year and why I’m excited about the next 40 years!

This Episode’s Topic: Embracing Age 40

To better understand why this issue matters, I share my personal struggles with clinical depression, being overweight, and the fear I had with turning 40. I go into detail about the false expectations I had with turning 40, how they were triggered by our culture, and the steps I took to work through those unrealistic expectations.

Smitty’s Tip of the Week | Book Recommendation

John Bloom’s book, “Don’t Follow Your Heart — God’s Ways Are Not Your Ways.”

I can’t recommend this book enough. In the opening, he writes the following, “This is a book to help you with heart problems. Because your biggest problems in life are heart problems.” Much of life’s problems start with our heart problems. Go and buy this book.

Start a Conversation

The best part about podcasting is joining in a conversation with you. To help kick off a discussion here is a question to consider:
If you have not yet turned 40, do you have some unrealistic expectations of age 40? If you have already turned age 40, what are some words of encouragement you can offer us young folks?
