FITC29 | Biblical Wisdom For Life

Episode 29

by Dr. Jonathan G. Smith | Faith In The City

Most of the time, when we pray, we want some kind of divine secret knowledge to help us solve our problems. And when the Lord God fails to give it to us or the outcome of our decision goes the wrong way, we complain. Then we read in James his instruction to ask God for “wisdom.” Well, is biblical wisdom really secret knowledge?

In this episode, we are looking at James instruction to pray for wisdom and the problem of self-doubt. Very often we ask for wisdom but then believe God hasn’t answered our prayer. The problem? We fail to realize that biblical wisdom is more concerned about our character.

Key Notes to Remember

Biblical wisdom results in a profound sense of inner peace and service to others.
Sermon Quote: So biblical wisdom has less to do with obtaining secret knowledge about what to do, and more to do with the disposition of your character, how you conduct yourself when addressing the problem by faith. And that requires wisdom.
