How The Gospel Shapes Our Character | FITC27

What does it mean to live with “spiritual integrity?” In the army of Ancient Rome, a soldier was expected to maintain his fitness and his weapons for war. Commanders would routinely inspect their men making certain they were ready. “As the leader came before one of his men, the soldier would sweep his fist hard into the middle of his chest, just over his heart, and shout “Integras!” The rich quality of the soldier’s voice and the sound of the armor signaled to the leader that the man was fit for duty.

The Christian journey is frighteningly hard. Every day we are confronted with temptations and frustrations that can get us off track. Maintaining integrity under these circumstances is challenging enough. But when you discover that God sometimes intentionally brings “trials” to craft our lives, that can be difficult.

So this message kicks off a sermons series, “The Integrated Life – Crafting Spiritual Wholeness.” The goal of the series is to develop and maintain our integrity even under the most difficult of life’s challenges.
