Hope For The Spiritually Blind | FITC26

Episode 26 | Hope For The Spiritually Blind

by Dr. Jonathan G. Smith | Faith In The City

Why is it that some people believe in Jesus and yet others do not? That question and much more like it is the subject of many debates. But the Bible teaches something quite clear. People can not believe in Jesus because they are spiritually blind.

In this final sermon on the Gospel of Mark, we look at the unusual story of “Blind Bartimaeus.” What makes this story so interesting is based upon Bartimaeus relentless pursuit of Jesus. Because of his condition (being born blind), he was left to beg. Jesus ministry provided him hope that his life could change.

Sermon Topic: Believe

Original Sermon Date: September 25, 2016

Current Sermon Series: The Gospel According to Mark

Sermon Text: Mark 10:32-52

Key Notes to Remember

John Mark chooses to highlight the story of Bartimaeus not just because of another miracle performed by Jesus, but instead what blind Bartimaeus represents. Namely, he represents everyone who has not had their eyes opened to the good news of Jesus.
